What this tool does

Build a .gitignore without memorising patterns. Tick the templates that match your project — a language, a framework, your editor, your operating system — and the file is assembled on the right as you go. Everything runs in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.

Templates

Templates are grouped into languages, frameworks, editors and IDEs, tools, operating systems, and common files. The search box matches a template's name and keywords, so node, dotenv, or xcode all jump straight to the right entry; keywords include Chinese terms such as 前端 or 压缩包, so those work too. Template names stay in English because they are proper nouns. Each category has an All / None button to select or clear it in one click.

Merging

Selected templates are merged in a stable order, one commented section each, and every section is kept complete, so each template you pick is fully represented. Extra patterns can be typed into Custom rules, one per line; they are appended under a # Custom section and any line a template already provided is skipped.

A few templates are broad on purpose: Certificates & keys ignores *.key and *.pem, Archives ignores *.zip, and Terraform ignores *.tfvars. If your project tracks those files, uncheck the template or add a negation such as !important.pem in the custom rules.

Copying and saving

Use Copy to put the result on the clipboard, or Download to save it as .gitignore. The line count shows how large the file has become. Your selection and custom rules are remembered on this device when tool memory is enabled.
