Image Info Viewer - Dimensions, EXIF, and Hash

Free online image info viewer. Inspect any image locally for type, size, dimensions, transparency, color mode, DPI, EXIF, and hashes. No uploads.

This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your input is never uploaded.

What does this image info viewer do?

This tool reads the technical details of a picture directly inside your browser. Drop in a JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, or AVIF file and it shows a full metadata report: the file name, MIME type, file size, pixel dimensions, whether the image has transparency or animation, the color mode, approximate DPI, any EXIF metadata, and cryptographic hash values.

What information is shown?

  • File name & type — the original file name and detected MIME type.
  • File size — exact byte size formatted as B, KB, or MB.
  • Dimensions — width and height in pixels.
  • Transparency — whether the image contains an alpha channel or transparent pixels.
  • Animation — whether the file is an animated GIF, APNG, or animated WebP.
  • Color mode — RGB, RGBA, grayscale, indexed (palette), or YCbCr.
  • DPI (approximate) — resolution from the PNG pHYs chunk, JPEG JFIF/EXIF, or WebP metadata; marked approximate because many images have no embedded DPI.
  • EXIF — camera make/model, capture date, exposure, focal length, ISO, GPS, and more from JPEG files.
  • Hash — MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, and SHA-512 checksums you can copy or export.

Supported formats

JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and AVIF. EXIF metadata is only stored in JPEG files, so other formats report no EXIF data.

Why check image info?

Knowing an image's true dimensions, color mode, and whether it carries transparency or animation helps you pick the right export format, verify that a file has not been altered (via its hash), and confirm camera details before publishing. The hash values are handy for integrity checks and de-duplication.

Privacy and security

Everything runs locally in your browser tab. The image is decoded with the Canvas API and analyzed in memory; nothing is uploaded to any server and no data is stored after you close the page. Preview object URLs are revoked when you remove the file or leave the page.

FAQ

Does it show DPI for every image?

No. DPI is only meaningful when a file embeds it (PNG pHYs, JPEG JFIF/EXIF, or WebP resolution metadata). When absent, the tool reports the value as unknown, which is why it is labeled "approximate".

Can it read EXIF from PNG or WebP?

EXIF is a JPEG concept. PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and AVIF do not carry EXIF in the same way, so the EXIF section shows "None" for those formats.

Are the hash values computed locally?

Yes. Hashes are computed in your browser using a WebAssembly hashing library, so the file never leaves your device.

Is there a file size limit?

Processing is local, so the practical limit is your device memory. Typical photos of several megabytes are analyzed instantly.
