Morse Code Converter

Encode text as Morse, decode Morse to text, play or download the signal as WAV or MP3, and decode Morse from an audio file — all locally.

This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your input is never uploaded.

Morse code

Plays the message written above as Morse code.

Morse Code Converter

Turn any text into International Morse code (ITU-R M.1677) or translate Morse back into readable text. In encode mode letters, digits, and punctuation become dot-and-dash codes, and word gaps appear as /. In decode mode paste a Morse message and read it back as uppercase text.

Beyond conversion you can play the message as an audible signal right in the tool. Adjust the speed (5–40 WPM), the tone frequency (300–1000 Hz), and the waveform to match your needs — useful when practising copying Morse by ear.

Everything runs locally: no text ever leaves the browser, and playback uses the Web Audio API.

Download the audio

The same message can be saved as a sound file: pick WAV (lossless) or MP3 (choose 128, 192, or 320 kbps) and press Download audio. The file uses the current speed, tone frequency, and waveform, so what you hear is what you get. The MP3 encoder runs in a Web Worker and never blocks the page.

Decode Morse from audio

Switch to the Audio → Morse tab, drop in a recording, and the tool finds the tone boundaries, estimates the speed, and decodes the message. Everything is automatic; if a noisy recording is missed, raise the sensitivity slider to re-run the detection without uploading again.

This works best on clean single-tone recordings, such as a WAV or MP3 exported from this tool or another Morse keyer. Heavy background noise, multiple tones at once, or very uneven hand-key timing can confuse the detector — adjusting the sensitivity usually helps.

Notes

  • Words in an encoded message are separated by /; letters within a word are separated by single spaces.
  • Decoding tolerates extra whitespace: only / creates a word gap.
  • Characters that have no Morse equivalent (such as Chinese text) pass through unchanged in both directions, so nothing is silently lost.
