How the white noise generator works
Pick a color — White, Pink, or Brown — and press Play. The sound is synthesized live with the Web Audio API as an 8-second seamless loop, so it never repeats audibly and never ends. Nothing is recorded or uploaded; generation happens entirely on your device.
- White noise spreads energy evenly across the spectrum. It is bright and crisp, and best for masking sudden noises like voices or traffic.
- Pink noise rolls off the highs for a softer, rain-like balance that stays comfortable over long listening sessions.
- Brown noise sinks the energy into the lows for a deep rumble that many people prefer for sleep, meditation, and focus.
Adjust the volume slider while playing. Choose a sleep timer of 15, 30, or 60 minutes and playback fades out automatically when time is up — handy for falling asleep without leaving audio running all night.
