Audio Recorder & Editor

Record your microphone or import audio, then trim, fade, equalize, compress, and change speed or pitch. Export WAV or MP3 locally.

This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your input is never uploaded.

Microphone audio and imported files are processed locally in your browser and never uploaded.

What does this tool do?

Audio Recorder and Editor captures sound from your microphone or opens an existing audio file, then lets you clean it up and export a new file. The waveform editor, the effect chain, and the encoders all run in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

Recording and importing

Pick a microphone and press Record to capture up to 10 minutes, with pause and resume while you go. A live level meter shows the input. Already have a file? Drop in MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A, AAC, FLAC, or WebM and edit that instead.

Waveform editing

The waveform shows the whole file, with a selection you can drag by its handles or type in numerically. Zoom in for detail, play the selection to preview the result, and use Trim to sound to snap the selection to the first and last audible part.

Effects

  • Basic: channel mode (stereo, mono, swap), reverse, DC offset removal, gain, and fade in/out.
  • Filters: high-pass to cut rumble and low-pass to cut hiss.
  • Equalizer: a 10-band graphic EQ from 32 Hz to 16 kHz.
  • Dynamics: a compressor with threshold, ratio, attack, and release, a brickwall limiter, and a noise gate.
  • Speed and pitch: change tempo from 0.5x to 2x without altering pitch, or shift pitch by up to an octave without changing speed.

Export

Render the result to WAV (8, 16, 24, or 32-bit float) or MP3 (64 to 320 kbps), at the original sample rate or 44.1/48 kHz. Recordings can also be saved in their original WebM or MP4 form.

Privacy

Everything is decoded, processed, and encoded locally through the Web Audio API and a Web Worker. Microphone audio never leaves your device.
